Mary’s Open Night

St Mary’s Open Night, for prospective parents of Nursery, Playgroup and Primary 1 children, will take place on Thursday 4th December 2014 from 6.30pm to 8pm. Please note only the above mentioned classes and our Autism Specific Class and Junior Learning Support Class will be open on the evening.

Application forms are available to download from the school and SELB websites or may be collected from the school office. 

Fit To Help

Thank you to everyone for the amazing support shown to our sponsored, “Fit To Help” event, organised by Mr McGrane, to help raise school funds. A total of £3,500 was raised throughout the school. Well done everyone. Congratulations to Dan McEvoy in P3 and in Ryan Morgan P7 who won the bicycles in the Fit to Help raffle.

School PTA

Extraordinary General Meeting – Thank you for the great attendance at the PTA EGMto re-elect the PTA Committee. This was to comply with the Charity Commission statutory regulations with regards to the formation and operation of a PTA group. At the meeting the following committee members were elected.

Thank you to Sarah Tugwell, our outgoing Vice Chairperson, who was unfortunately unable to stand for re-election.

Frock Swap – The PTA Frock Swap will take place in The Coach Inn from 7.30pm on Thursday 4th December. Entry is £5 which includes an entry into the Prize Draw. On the night there will be a variety of stalls with children’s clothing priced at £1.00 and adults clothing priced at £2.00. A good night is guaranteed.

Christmas Holiday Closures

Nursery and Playgroup will close from on Wednesday 18th December for the Christmas holiday. 

School will close at 11.15am on Friday 19th December for the Christmas holiday.

School will reopen, as normal, for all children on Tuesday 6th January 2015.

Christmas Dates

The P7 Christmas Assembly will take place on Tuesday 9th December at 11.15am. An afternoon performance will take place at 1.30pm.

The School Choir will be performing at various venues including Supervalu, Legion’s Court and Tesco from 9.30am on Thursday 11th December.

The P1 and P3 Christmas Assembly will take place on Tuesday 16th December at 11.15am. An afternoon performance will take place at 1.15pm.

Speech and Drama Club will perform the ‘Christmas Nativity Play’ in St Therese’s Church at 7.30pm on Wednesday 17th December. All are welcome to attend.

The P2 Nativity Performance will take place on Thursday 18th December at 9.30am, 11.15am and at 7.00pm.

Please note there will be a small charge of £2.00 per adult at each school show with proceeds being donated to St Vincent de Paul.

Shoe Box Appeal


Thank you for the amazing support for our Road to Hope Shoe Box Appeal. 231 shoeboxes were returned to the school. These have all been collected and are already on their way to help the disadvantaged people in Eastern Europe. Our thanks to Teresa Mulvaney for organising the Shoebox Appeal.  

School Clubs

Friday Football Club, Netball Club and Table Tennis Club are now finished for the term.

Paul Evans Football Club is finished until the New Year and Michael Feeney’s Gaelic Club will finish on Tuesday 9th December.

St Mary’s Astronomy Club will continue each Wednesday from 3pm to 4.30pm until 17th December (inclusive).

Irish Dancing will finish on Friday 12th December. Speech and Drama will finish on Thursday 11th December and Fun Fit will finish on Monday 8th December.

Parent Governor

The school received three nominations for Parent Governor. Thank you to those parents willing to stand for election. Ballot forms and information about each candidate will be issued to each family attending the school. Please note ballot forms must be returned before 3pm on Monday 8th December.
