ECO Schools Bronze Award for St Mary's Primary School

St Mary's has been given the Eco Schools Bronze Award in recognition of its achievement in working towards a sustainable lifestyle.

KEEP NORTHERN IRELAND BEAUTIFUL Scheme, supported by the Department of the Environment, has acknowledged the hard work of the entire staff and pupils, in taking the necessary steps to ensure St Mary's is doing all that it can to make the appropriate improvements to enhance the environmental performance of the school.

The well-established Eco Council identified areas for change and activities were planned to implement those changes. Recycling initiatives, reducing waste, up-cycling in the gardening club and saving electricity indoors have all contributed to ensuring the school secured this award.

These practices will be monitored and reviewed as we strive towards obtaining the Eco Schools Silver Award.
