Leavers’ Awards

The Primary 7 Leavers’ Awards will take place on Friday 20th June in the School Assembly Hall from 1.30pm. All P7 parents are invited to attend. This will be our Primary 7 pupils final day at St Mary’s as they take their school trips the following Monday and Tuesday.

On behalf of all the staff at St. Mary’s I wish all our Primary 7 pupils every success and best wishes in their post-primary schools.

Free School Meals

If you have received a letter from the SELB regarding free school meals, it is important that you reply to this as soon as possible. Failure to do so may result in your child’s name being removed from the free school meals list held by the Board. A new application will then have to be made in September to avail of free school meals.

The price of a school meal will cost £2.10 from September 2014 for the nursery and main school.

St Mary’s World Cup

The football St Mary’s World Cup will take place at Cheney Park on Thursday 19th June from 10.00a.m. to 2.00p.m. Thank you to Mr McGrane, Mr Mackle and Mr Devlin for organising the soccer throughout the year and taking the children to the matches and tournaments

Gaelic League

Well done to all the children who took part in our school Gaelic League. This year saw some thrilling football and magnificent games. Our thanks to Mr McGrane, Mr Mackle and Mr Devlin for organising the Gaelic throughout the year and taking the children to the matches and tournaments.  Congratulations to Tullyear on winning the 2014 Gaelic League.

Netball Tournament

Well done to the St Mary’s Netball Team who recently won the inter-school netball rally ay Banbridge Leisure Centre. Thank you to Mrs Moore, Mrs Duggan and Mrs Austen for organising the netball for our girls throughout the year.

Leavers’ Disco

The PTA Leavers’ Disco will take place on Friday 20th June from 7pm to 9pm in the school hall. Admission £3.

Breakfast Club

There will be no change to the cost of Breakfast Club next year. Breakfast Club will remain at a cost of £1.20 per morning.

Night at the Races

Our Night at the Races was hugely successful and a highly entertaining evening. Thank you for the fantastic support. A special thanks to all our PTA members for the hard work organising the event and preparing the sandwiches and tray bakes.  This is greatly appreciated by all.

The race night winners were as follows:

Shake the Bucket - Jason Sands; Galloping Gallagher - Aoife, Ryan and Petrina Gallagher; Black Beauty - John Maginn; My Little Pony - Simon McEvoy; Muddycuddles - Ella McEvoy; Bringbackfergie - Chris Mackle; Mac's Mare - Theresa Mulvaney & Jackie McArdle; Alfie - Chris & Juliet Mulholland.

Handwriting Competition

Well done to all the entrants in the St Mary’s Handwriting  Competition. A list of winners and most improved is overleaf. Thank you to Mrs McArdle and Mrs Coleman for organizing the competition. 

Cycling Proficiency

Good luck to all the children who will complete their Cycling Proficiency test this week. Thank you to Miss King and Miss Farrell for organising the Cycling Proficiency classes this year.

Sports Day

Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend our school Sports Day. It was really good to see such a large turnout and thankfully the weather played its part this year.

Thank you to Mr McGrane for organising the event. A great day was had by all and as usual our children were terrific.

New School Build

Plans for our new school and our decant to St Patrick’s College are almost finalised. It is anticipated that the nursery building will be relocated to St Patrick’s over the summer holiday with rest of the school completing the decant by the end of October. Information will be made available to all when it becomes available. Please note the school will be closed for a short period of time to allow the decant to take place. We will attempt to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

Please continue to donate any cardboard boxes to the school for packing purposes. Please send any boxes to the assembly hall.

School Closures

Nursery will close on Friday June to prepare for the nursery’s relocation.

Playgroup will close on Tuesday and the school will close on Friday 27th June at 11.15am.
