Well done to all our children who entered the Banbridge Arts Festival last week. Over 110 children from St Mary’s participated in the festival this year with over 70 children receiving a certificate, medal or trophy. Thank you to Mrs. Quigley and to Karen Turner, from our PTA, for helping to prepare and to rehearse with our children. Please see the school website for photographs.

New School Update

I am delighted to confirm that legal issues concerning the purchase of Housing Executive land have been resolved.

Following a meeting with ‘Glassgiven Contracts’ last week, it is anticipated that work will commence shortly. April 2017 has been confirmed as the completion date.

Astronomy Club

St Mary’s Astronomy Club continues each Tuesday after school. Please note all places in the Club are now full.

Workshops

Thank you to all our parents who were able to attend our recent workshops. The ParentingNi programme, ‘Dealing with Children’s Challenging Behaviour’ continues each Thursday from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

Parents may still join the course.

The next Maths Workshop will take place on Wednesday 18th November from 7.30pm in the school.

Shoe Box Appeal

Thank you for the fantastic response to our ‘Road to Hope’ Shoe Box Appeal. Over 230 shoeboxes were returned to the school from St Mary’s and St Patrick’s children. The boxes have been collected and are on their way to help the disadvantaged people in Eastern Europe. Our thanks to Teresa Mulvaney for organising the Shoebox Appeal.

School Parking

Thank you for adhering to our parking arrangements. The drop-off measures are working well and we would encourage parents to either park in St Therese’s car park, if you wish to escort your child to the school playground, or use the supervised drop off points in St Patrick’s car park.

Please do not park in Clan na Banna car park. This is for staff parking only. Please avoid parking on the main road near our entrance and where our Traffic Patrol man operates. This is dangerous as it blocks his vision for crossing children.

Please be aware that Police and Traffic Wardens will be patrolling the Scarva Road area, in the mornings, to combat cars parking illegally or dangerously.

P6 Parents’ Post-Primary Meeting

A meeting for P6 parents regarding the post primary transfer procedure will take place on Thursday 19th November at 7.30pm in the school.
