October Newsletter

Update

DENI has acknowledged our request for review of pedestrian entrance to the school. We feel a second pedestrian gate is necessary to avoid children and parents needing to cross the road to access the school.

To date we have not received any information regarding the outcome of the planned survey for a Manned Crossing at the Scarva Road junction.

School Closures

School will be closed for children from Monday 30th October to Thursday 2nd November (inclusive) for the midterm break. School will be open as normal on Friday 3rd November. A full list of school dates is available on the school website.

First Penance

Well done to all our P4 children who made their First Penance last Wednesday. The children were terrific. The children’s reading and singing was fantastic. We are all very proud of them. First Holy Communion will take place at 11.00am on Saturday, 12th May.

Football Team

In the second round of the league held on Thursday 6th October our A team were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Abercorn in the final. Despite the defeat St Mary's still lead the league.

Our B team did extremely well only losing one game to Bridge A team. Well done to Noah Lennon, Luke Balchin and Jason Sands who all had an excellent tournament.

Good luck to both teams in the next round of games on Thursday 9th November. Thank you to Paul Evans for organising the Banbridge League.

Gaelic Football

Congratulations to our Gaelic team on progressing to the next round of the Canon Esler Cup. Victories over  Saval, Glenn and Abbey Primary School, along with a draw against St. Ronan's Primary School, helped us qualify from our group.

Adam Mc Cann, Lennen Bell, Jack Conlon, Oran Devlin and Carter Gorman all performed well. Good luck to the boys in their next round of games on Tuesday 23rd October.

Cross Country

Congratulations to our Cross Country team who took part in the first race of the season at Lurgan Park. Unfortunately, only two of the boys team were able to run due to a Gaelic tournament taking place on the same day. However, the boys and girls did fantastically well with Mychela McAvoy and Annie McEvoy finishing 9th and 10th out of 81 girls.

Well done everyone! Good luck in the next race!!!!!!!!
