School Fund

Dear Parent
I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful summer break. It is great to see all our children back, ready and eager for school. A special welcome to all our Primary 1, Nursery and Playgroup children who start our school this week.

A voluntary contribution of £20 per child or £30 for a family is requested to our school fund. As in previous years, this money will be used to enhance your child's learning environment and help purchase school resources.

If paying the total amount at once is inconvenient, please feel free to pay on a termly or monthly basis. A slip is attached below for your payment. I thank you in advance for what I am sure will be a generous response to this request.

Please return to your child's class teacher or directly to the school office.

Parking and Playground

Parents are encouraged to drop-off children on Reilly Street (school side to avoid crossing the road) or to use St Therese's car park and use the pedestrian crossing to access school.

Please refrain from using the car park or Reilly Park for dropping-off, stopping or turning at any time during the day. The school car park and Reilly Park become very congested, especially in the mornings with taxis, members of staff arriving to work and delivery vehicles all attempting to enter and exit the car park. We are aware this may cause inconvenience but the ongoing traffic congestion poses a serious hazard to pupils, parents, residents and staff.

St Therese Car Park

Please be extra careful when using St Therese's car park. There are many children, some very young, walking to and from vehicles in the mornings and afternoons. Please be vigilant when parking, entering or exiting the car park.

Free School Meals

If you have received a letter from SELB regarding free school meals, it is important that you reply to this, as soon as possible. Failure to do so may result in your child’s name being removed from the free school meals list held by the Board. A new application will then have to be made to avail of free school meals.

As of September 2014, the price of a school meal for the nursery and the main school is £2.10.

PTA AGM

Our PTA AGM will take place on Tuesday 16th  September in the school assesmbly hall from 7.30pm.

New School Build

Due to delays with planned works over the summer on the St Patrick’s site our anticapted decant to St Patrick’s is now planned for December 2014.  Information will be made available, as soon as posible. Please note the school will be closed for a short period of time to allow the decant to take place. We will attempt to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

Please continue to donate any cardboard boxes to the school for packing purposes. Please send any boxes to the assembly hall. Thank you to all who donated boxes and their time during the summer.

Friday Clubs

Friday Clubs for P5 to P7 children will take place each Friday from Friday 12th September.

Netball and Table Tennis will take place at Banbridge Leisure Centre from 2pm to 3.45pm.

Football will take place at Cheney Park from 2pm to 4pm.

Photography Club, Indoor Bowls Club, The Fabulous Food Club and Art and Craft Club will take place in school from 2pm until 3pm

Children are requested to bring £1 each Friday to help cover costs.

Healthy Break

Please note the school's Healthy Break Policy remains in place this year. Pupils are asked to avoid eating chocolate, crisps, sweets, fizzy drinks etc. during school hours.

At break times pupils are encouraged to eat foods such as fruit, sandwiches, vegetables and cheese etc. If a child does not have a healthy snack a plain biscuit will be provided. Only water or milk may be consumed at break time.

Packed lunch

If your child takes a packed lunch at school please supply a small bag for your child to take the remains of his/her lunch home. This is to enable parents to monitor what their child is eating and to help reduce the amount of waste collected in class.
