Mrs Quigley's P2 dazzle in the sunshine at Sports Day
The challenge has been set to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.
The value of sport in building character and leadership behaviours has been widely recognised throughout history – whether that’s the grit and determination to get back up following a defeat, or galvanising team mates to give one last push in a tight encounter.
The provision of competition alone isn’t enough. In order for the experience to be positive and lead to ongoing participation, young people need to feel competent and confident, both of which can be developed through the opportunity to practice in a supported environment. It was in such an environment that our children dazzled as they participated in the annual schools sports day in Cheney park! All of the boys and girls had a fantastic day showing off their skills and competences in running, throwing and the team activities of the relay race and the obstacle course.
Thank you to Mr McGrane for all his hard work in planning and organising today's event - it all went off superbly.
