When a tiger comes to tea...... Mrs Quigley's Primary 2 class
The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her Mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don't expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger!
The Tiger who came to tea has delighted children for over twenty years. When it was first published, Antonio Fraser called it "a dazzling first book" which would cause children to "scream with delicious pleasure at the dangerous naughtiness of the notion."
In Primary two, we have used the book as a quality stimulus for developing language and communication skills. It has been integrated easily into every area of our early years curriculum.
This gallery will allow you to see how this text has been explored, and how much learning the children gained from exposure to it.
Children are naturally curious! What would happen if we put raisins into fizzy lemonade? Make a prediction: Would they sink? Would they make the lemonade change colour? Would the raisins get smaller or perhaps bigger? The boys and girls made their predictions and carried out the experiment to prove what actually does happen: the raisins dance - that's right - they bob up and down! You can see the children carrying out this investigation in this gallery also.
