Evo Football League

11th Oct 2024

St Mary's A team were narrowly defeated in the semifinal of the EVO 7 a-side at Cheney Park today. In a thrilling match St Mary's were defeated 2-1 by eventual winners Fairhill. After dominating the group stage, scoring 11 goals without conceding, the boys were very unlucky not to go through after failing to take a number of opportunities.

Well done to all the boys on the A Team, in particular to Eoin McGowan, Alfie Meade and Riley Bell who all had excellent performances.

Our B Team did extremely well in their first outing this year. The team, mostly made up of P5 and P6 boys, showed great promise for the future winning 2, drawing 1 and being defeated in 2 games. Well done to all the boys but a special mention to Louie Magennis who received the goalkeeper of the tournament award and to Ollie McCart, Kane Hill and McCourt Caolan.

Good luck to both teams who next play on Wednesday in Kilkeel.
