School Move Summary
The last school day in the present St Mary’s School building will be Wednesday 25 March. This will be a Fun Day at school for the children.
School will be closed from Thursday 26 March to Friday 10 April. This includes the Easter holiday period. Children will return to school, at St Patrick’s, on Monday 13 April. Breakfast Club and After School Club will operate as normal from Monday 13 April.
St Mary’s school day will commence 15 minutes earlier at 8.45am. P1 to P3 pupils will finish at 1.45pm, P5 to P7 will finish at 2.45pm. Playgroup will finish at 12.35pm and Nursery will finish at 1.15pm. After School Club will operate as normal.
The present school building will be open on Wednesday 25 February from 6.00pm to 8.30pm for public viewing. Ex-pupils, ex-members of staff and parents are welcome to attend.
A Celebratory Mass will take place in Church of St Therese on Friday 27 February at 11.00am. School will close at 12.30pm. Please note there will be no After School Club on Friday 27 February.
Information meetings for parents will be held during the week commencing Monday 9 March.
All school reading books will be collected before Friday 20 March to allow these to be catalogued and boxed.
On Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 March all children will have an opportunity to visit their new class room and have lining up procedures, fire drills, toileting areas explained etc. Please continue to send any cardboard boxes to school.
Football Team
Well done to our School Football team who were narrowly defeated in the Kilkeel 5 aside tournament. Well done to Donal Scullion, Ryan Morgan and Michael Wood who all had a terrific tournament. Good luck to the school teams in the next round of the Banbrigde League at Cheney Park on Thursday.
School PTA
The next meeting of our PTA will take place on Tuesday 10 February at 7.30pm. All support is greatly appreciated.
Well done to Christy Wilson who won the PTA Logo competition.
Our PTA will host a Family Quiz in St Mary’s assembly hall on Sunday 8March. This will be the last PTA event in our present school building. Further details will be issued closer to the date.
Parish Mission
Seapatrick Parish Mission will take place from Saturday 28 February to Sunday 8 March. Details of the Mission are available from the school’s website. Local schools have been invited to attend the 10.00am daily Mass during the week of the Mission. We hope as many families as possible will be able to attend the Mission.
Coin Drive
Our annual PTA Coin Drive will take place on Friday 13 February. Children are asked to bring any lose change from home on Tuesday. Each class will, in turn, attempt to make the longest snake of coins around the assembly hall. The class with the heaviest amount of coins will receive a prize. The coins will then be counted and donated to the PTA.
Cross Country
Well done to our Cross Country team who took part in the second race at Armagh before Christmas. Well done to Cara Henning, Aimee McPolin, Dareca Vint, Taylor Hill, Ryan Meara and Michael Wood who were the first girls and boys home for St Mary’s.
World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5 March we will be organising various book related and reading activities in school. Children are encouraged to dress up as a book character for the day to make it a fun event.
World Book Day Tokens have arrived at school. The £1 discount token will be issued to all pupils at the beginning of March. Scholastic Book Club will be in school during the week Monday 16 March to Friday 20 March. The tokens can be redeemed against the purchase of any book between the Monday 2 March and Sunday 29 March 2015.
Credit Union Quiz
Well done to the St Mary’s Quiz Team who won the Banbridge Credit Union Quiz last week. Congratulations to team members; Fergal Scullion, Ana Murphy, Sorcha Boersma and Donal Scullion. Thank you to Edenderry Primary School for hosting the Quiz. The children will now represent the Banbridge area at the SELB final next month.
Half Term
School will be closed from Monday 16 February to Friday 20 February 2015 for the half term holiday.
