Parent Consultations
Parent Consultations for P1 to P7 will take place during the week beginning Monday 25th November, between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.
School will finish at 1.30pm each day during the week. The After School Club will be open from 1.30pm to assist parents with childcare arrangements.
If your child/ren does/do not attend the After School Club on a regular basis and you wish to avail of this facility during Parent Consultation Week, please contact the school office to register your child/ren before Friday 22nd November, to ensure appropriate staffing ratios.
Fit To Help
Thank you to everyone for the amazing support shown to our sponsored Fit To Help event, organised by Mr McGrane, to help raise school funds. The raffle will be held for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 on Friday 15th November. This is to allow time for children to return their sponsor cards and any outstanding money. All returned sponsor cards will be entered into the raffles and each child will receive a Fit To Help wrist band.
School Council
Our 2013 School Council and Eco Councils are now established. Representatives from P4 to P7 have been elected by their classroom peers and will meet regularly with Mr Mackle to look at ways of improving our school. Our Eco Council with representatives from P2 to P7 will meet with Mrs Comiskey to put in place environmentally friendly routines throughout the school.
School PTA
Thank you for the fantastic turnout at the Halloween Disco. Thank you to all our PTA members and parents who were able to attend. Thank you to the PTA who purchased new software licences for the school and reading books for our Learning Support Centres. This is greatly appreciated by all.
Thank you to all who were able to attend our Coffee Morning on 22nd October. It was good to see such a large turnout.
Movie Night The PTA will hold a Movie Night in the school hall on Friday 13th December. Doors open at 6.30pm with the film to commence at 7pm sharp. The movie will be finished by 8.45pm. Tickets will go on sale at the end of November.
The next meeting of the PTA will take place on Tuesday 12th November at 7.30pm. All support is greatly appreciated. Contact our PTA at stmaryspta1@hotmail.co.uk.
Football Team Victory
Congratulations to the school football team on the shared win in the Walker's 7 Aside Tournament held Cheney Park prior to the Halloween break.
The boys and girls performed fantastically well without losing a single game during the tournament. The final with Ballydown Primary ended in a draw and it was decided to share the trophy. Thank you to Mr Mackle and Mr Devlin for taking the children to the tournament.
Well done to Lewis Crompton who had an excellent tournament.
Banbridge Arts Festival
Good luck to all our children who entered The Banbridge Arts Festival this week. Over 130 children from St. Mary�s entered the festival this year. Thank you to Mrs Convery and to Karen Turner from our PTA helping to prepare and to rehearse with our children.
Cross Country
Well done all our Cross Country children who took part in their first race before the Halloween break. The girls and boys did extremely well in very difficult wet conditions. Well done to Emer McGrane who was first home for St. Mary�s.
Christmas Dates
The P5 Christmas Play will take place on Tuesday 17th December at 11.15am. An afternoon performance will take place at 1.45pm.
The P2 and P3 Nativity Performance will take place on Thursday 19th December at 7.30pm. A morning and afternoon performance will take place at 10am and 1pm. Please note our P1 children will be performing during the daytime shows only. Primary one will not be performing on Thursday night.
St. Mary's Open Night
St. Mary's Open Night for prospective parents of Nursery, Playgroup and Primary 1 children will take place on Wednesday 11th December 2013 from 6.30pm to 8pm.
P6 Parents Meeting
A meeting for P6 parents regarding the post primary transfer procedure will take place on Tuesday 19th November at 7.30pm in the school hall.
Astronomy Club
St. Mary's Astronomy Club will commence on Thursday 21st November from 3pm to 4.30pm. Spaces are limited and preference will be given from to P7 to P5 children. Please contact Julie in the office for further information, or to register your child's interest.
Clann Na Banna
The Clann Na Banna indoor programme begins today Thursday 7th November at St. Patrick's School for all children from P1 to P6. £1 per child.
Sacraments
Confirmation for P7 children will take place on Sunday 23rd March at 3pm in St. Therese.
First Communion for P4 children will take place on Saturday 17th May 2013 at 11am in St. Therese.
