St Mary’s PTA
Halloween Fancy Dress Disco in the school hall on Friday, 28th October from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, for P1 to P3 and 7.45pm to 9.00pm from P4 to P7. Admission £3.
Thank you for the fantastic support at our Halloween Treasure Hunt last Sunday. A great day was had by all in attendance. Thank you to our PTA and volunteers for this excellent event.
The next meeting of the PTA will take in the school at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 11th November.
School Fund
Thank you to all our parents and families who have already submitted their School Fund. If you have not already done so, please forward it to the school office. A contribution of £20 per child or £30 per family is requested.
First Penance
Well done to all our P4 children who made their First Penance last Thursday. The children were terrific. We are all very proud of them. First Holy Communion will take place at 11.00am on Saturday, 13th May. Please note due to the large number of children making their First Communion this year we ask that only immediate family members attend the Church. Otherwise there will be insufficient seating available.
Football Team Victory
Congratulations to St Mary's A team who won the EVO 7-a-side competition at Cheney Park on Thursday, 13th October. All the boys played fantastically well. Well done to Ryse Berry, Carter Gorman, Shea Malone and Jay McDowell who all had an excellent tournament.
Our B team did very well despite being drawn in a very tough group with Abercorn A and Edenderry A teams. In the second stage of the tournament the boys won both games. Well done to Mark McCann, Shay Wilson and Jamie Trainor who all had an excellent tournament.
Good luck to both teams in the next round of games on Thursday 10th November. Thank you to Paul Evans for organising the Banbridge League.
Fit To Dance
Thank you for the amazing support for our sponsored “Fit to Dance” event, organised by Mr McGrane, to help raise much needed, school funds. The raffle will be held for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 after the Halloween break. Please return sponsor cards and any outstanding money to the office. All returned sponsor cards will be entered into the raffles.
Thank you for your support on PINK Day last Friday. £ 450 was raised for Breast Cancer Research
Cross Country/Gaelic Football
Well done to all the boys and girls who participated in the first Cross Country race of the season at Lurgan Park last week.
Ryse Berry was first home for the boys finishing 4th from 218 runners. Carter Gorman and Jonathon McGrath were the next best placed boys. Wiktoria Juchno was first home for the girls finishing 11th from 208 runners. Mychaela McAvoy and Anne Davis were the next best finishers for the girls. Well done to all the boys and girls, an excellent start to the Cross Country season.

Well done to the school’s Gaelic Football Team who took part in their first blitz of the season in Newry. Congratulations to Fionntan Keenan and Ryse Berry who both had an excellent blitz.
Please note there will be no Clubs on Friday 28th October.
Swimming Team
Congratulations to Alana Burns-Atkin, Lauren Burns-Atkin, Jan Boersma, Cathal Hill, Mychaela McEvoy, Madison Cairns, Kate Smith and Samantha Burns-Atkin who represented St Mary’s at the Ulster School Swimming Championships at Bangor Aurora swimming pool on Saturday 15th October.

The girls and boys will again represent the school at the Irish minor schools championship which will be held in the NAC, Dublin on Sunday, 12th February, 2017. Good luck to all the swimmers.
Fancy Dress
A Halloween Fancy Dress Day will take place on Friday, 28th October for Cancer Awareness. Children may dress up in Fancy Dress or their own clothes for the day. A £1 donation to Sothern Area Hospice is appreciated.
Shoe Box Appeal
Please return ‘Road to Hope’ shoeboxes to St Mary’s or St Patrick’s school office by Friday, 28th October.
