P7s Shop till they drop!
The P7s enjoyed a fantastic day out at Tesco, on the Castlewellan Road, where they learnt the importance of maths in everyday life.
They were taught how advertisers promote their brands, and that the bigger brands are not always value for money. They got to taste different versions of the same foods. They were also taught how to look out for bargains. The children were then allowed out on to the shop floor and were given a budget of £50 to shop for a family of four. Children also had the opportunity to work at the checkout. The team closest to £50 were the winners. Once their £50 challenge was completed they were given a party to celebrate their day's learning.
A huge congratulations to Eoin, Tiara, Zara and Josh, who were the winning team in Mrs Morrow's class, with a grand total of £49.99.
A huge congratulations to Emma, Orla, Brodie, Owen, Isabelle and Katie, who were the winning team in Mrs A Murphy's class, with a grand total of £46.59.
The P7s would like to express a huge thank you to Cathy, Joan and Lyndsay. Mrs L Murphy's class have this to look forward to next Tuesday.
