Primary Two present The First Christmas
Primary 2 retell the story of The First Christmas... Lights! Camera! Action!
A long time ago, in a town called Nazareth, a young woman, engaged to a man named Joseph, was chosen by God, to be the Mother of His Son, Jesus. The Angel Gabriel brought this special message to Mary.
Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem on the donkey, to pay a special tax; they travelled for days, over the hills of Galilee. It was a long journey and the little donkey was tired but there was no time to stop; Mary's Baby was about to be born. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the town was full of people and Joseph could not find anywhere to stay... all the inns were full up. A kind innkeeper suggested they sleep in his stable.
That night, the Baby Jesus was born. Mary wrapped Him in a blanket and put Him in a manger... a little crib of hay, that Joseph had made for Him.
Mary and Joseph thanked God for the precious gift of Jesus.
Some shepherds who were minding their sheep in the fields nearby, looked up to the sky and saw a host of heavenly angels. The angels had a message for them; they told the shepherds to go and look for a special Baby, the Son of God, who had been born in a stable, in the town of Bethlehem. When they arrived at the stable, the shepherds thanked God for the new Baby King.
Meanwhile, Three Kings in the East, had seen a bright star in the sky; they knew the star was a special sign that a powerful King had been born. The Kings went in search of the Baby Jesus, guided by the star. The star stopped in the sky above a stable in Bethlehem, and the Kings went inside. They knelt down and worshipped the Baby; they had brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Everyone thanked God for all they had seen. Happy Birthday Baby Jesus.
