See the amazing in Autism!
It is World Autism Acceptance Week (27th March-2nd April) and we are celebrating the spectrum by highlighting the vibrant autism community within our school. To raise awareness and understanding of autism, we are having an Autism Celebration day on Friday 31 March. As the theme this year is Be Colourful, the children are invited to dress up colourfully and are taking part in a Spectrum Colour Walk. The children within our Learning Support classes and Autism Specific Classes will be Autism Ambassadors on the day. Check out our photos on Friday. Through educational videos, songs and discussion, the children are learning how amazing it is for everyone to be unique and that, in St Mary’s, we accept that we are “ all together” different.
Autism NI estimates that 1 in 21 children in Northern Ireland have a diagnosis of autism. There are a range of support services and agencies that offer parental advice, guidance and support. Please view the links below for information.
