St Mary's A team were narrowly defeated in the final of the South Down 7 a-side competition at Ballinran, Kilkeel today. In a thrilling final St Mary's were defeated 1-0 by Kilkeel Primary School. After dominating the group stage, scoring 14 goals without conceding, the boys were very unlucky to be defeated by a strong Kilkeel team after failing to take a number of chances.
Well done to all the boys on the A Team, in particular to Eoin McGowan, Alfie Meade and Jack Jardine who all had excellent performances.
Our B Team had a frustrating afternoon, losing their first game 1-0 with the last kick of the game. The team, mostly made up of P5 and P6 boys, showed great promise winning 1, drawing 1 and being defeated in 3 games. Well done to all the boys but a special mention to Louie Magennis, Ollie McCart and Caolan McCourt .
Good luck to both teams who next play in the Evo League on Thursday 14th November.
