Congratulations to our St Mary's A team on gaining runners up spot in the South Down Football League at Newcastle.
The boys qualified for the final after defeating St Mary's Newcastle, Windsor Hill Primary School and Annalong Primary School in the league section and defeating Annalong Primary School in the semi-final before narrowly losing 1-0 to a strong Kilkeel Primary School team.
In a competitive final St Mary’s should have taken the lead on a number of occasions through Jack Mooney, Osisn Gartland and Harry Eakins only to be hit on the break with the game looking to be heading towards penalties. Well done to all the team who displayed great determination and spirit against an undefeated Kilkeel Team.
Our B team played very well in their league section winning the opening game 3-0, followed by a score draw before narrow defeats to Fairhill and Kilkeel. Well done to all the boys in particular to Josh Burke, Milo Quail, Cormac Poland and Dillion McGrath who all have a terrific tournament.
