St Mary's raises £408.00 for Seapatrick Lourdes Committee
World Book day was celebrated on Thursday 3 March 2016. This year the school decided to use this event to raise the profile of Seapatrick Lourdes Committee, Banbridge. The annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place in May, and offers hope and comfort to the sick in our parish.
St Mary's appealed to the generosity of its parents and a staggering £408 was collected, after each child wore a costume to represent a character from a book and donated £1 towards the Lourdes Fund.
Mrs Frances McDonald, Chairperson of the Seapatrick Lourdes Committee, and Mrs Karen Trainor, an active member of the committee, received the cheque from some of our pupils. Mrs McDonald was delighted to receive this huge amount on behalf of the Lourdes Committee. She thanked the staff, parents and pupils of St Mary's for their heartfelt generosity and kind donation. She was keen to stress her appreciation for this financial support. The Lourdes Committee relies entirely on the goodwill and financial assistance of the public.
A big thank you to our parents and pupils!! Your generosity means so much to many people. A simple act of kindness can make a great difference to many people's lives.
